The Verdict is In...

So, we went for our 20-week ultrasound yesterday. I was warned by a few of you about this procedure (COLD jelly, LOTS of pressure), and you were all spot on. Our sonographer was not very personable at first, but once she got settled (and realized that Brandon wasn't going to hover right behind her shoulder!), she warmed up (although the jelly didn't). I didn't get to see anything until she was nearly done, but watching Brandon's face was priceless: picture blank expression changing to wide-eyed, open-mouthed surprise, then smile, then big grin, repeat cycle.

Apparently, our child is a wiggler: kept moving hands and feet out of sight of the machine, so it was difficult to get some of the measurements. As the sonographer was attempting to view the sex organs, she bounced the transducer (the hand-held part) kinda hard on my belly. She explained the baby was laying on its right side, legs together so that she couldn't get a view of the sex organs, and that she was trying to get him to react and move his leg. After 30+ minutes of the sonographer pounding my belly with the transducer, Baby Hanson finally moved HIS leg enough so she could get a picture. After double-checking that it wasn't just the umbilical cord (it wasn't), she confirmed: IT'S A BOY!

We do have names in mind, but nothing definite. In case you're wondering, though, we won't be telling the name (or giving hints!) until he's born.
